why should i care?

one of the most basic questions that has to be addressed in any brief, right? i wonder if they got the brief right for this job? if this video was meant to connect with the young people of america, i'm not sure if it's giving them a reason(s) to care? when these actors go into listing out all the issues you (the youth of America) should care about, it just doesn't seem relevant. listen in at 1:40 "...if you care about welfare, minimum wage, social security, gay marriage, the economy...you should vote." most of the kids i've spoken to, can care less.

I like the concept though, and the fact that the celebs came onboard to support it. What we've been watching quite closely is this program: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hackhalfhour/default.htm

Seems that kids are interested in politics and current issues, they just need the right context to express it.

Ultimately I think most people are concerned about their own destinies they just express them differently.

hey thanks for the link CJ, i'm gonna check it out. i'm gonna also send it to my cuz in Sydney to get his take on it. appreciate it.

btw, did you happen to see the other videos earlier this year from will i. am? the "yes we can" and the "we are the one" song? i enjoyed these two vs the latest video. maybe because the 1st 2 were built around a celebs singing a catchy little tune...very entertaining and thought-provoking. Instead of this latest approach having celebrities (that don't really live in my world talking down to me) as if they were my parents.

I think this video could have be condensed into a :30 or :60 video and it would have been more punchy and enjoyable. It felt a like it dragged on too long. Why not cut it up into a bunch of short videos?
